* The symptoms are: Bleeding in the joints, bleeding in soft tissue and muscles, bleeding in the mouth from a cut, blood in the urine, easily bruising, bleeding longer than usual, bleeding several days after a surgery, loss of range of motion, discoloration of skin, prolonged nosebleed and vomiting blood.
How is the disorder inherited? What chromosome is the gene carried on? Is the disorder a chromosome number disorder? Is the disorder sex-linked? Dominant? Recessive?
*Hemophilia is inherited from a parent. The X chromosome. No, it's a defect on the X chromosome. Yes it is. Recessive.
At what age does this disorder become evident? (Is this disorder a late onset disorder?)
*It is usually shown 18 months after a child is born. (No.)
Is the disorder variably expressed? Does the environment or other other genes affect how this disorder is expressed? What are the variables that affect how this disorder is expressed?
* Yes. Yes. I can not find them!
Can the disorder be detected before birth? How can you detect the disorder before birth?
* Yes. Blood Test!
Can the parents be tested to see if they are carriers? If so, how does the test work?
* Yes. The genetic counselor will take family history and draw a family tree (pedigree). Then will determine who in the family was a carrier of the gene.
Can the environment be altered to affect the expression of the disorder? If so, how you change the environment so that the disorder is less severe?
* No.
